Super Bowl Kickoff and Half Time Show

Super Bowl TV Schedule & Kickoff

Ready for some CHAMPIONSHIP football?

It will be a clash of epic proportions -- when the New England Patriots and defending Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks square off on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona at Super Bowl XLIX.
There's no threat of a February blizzard as there was in New Jersey at the 2014 Super Bowl. This year's game will be totally "cool" -- as the AC system and retractable roof at the desert stadium ensures total climate control for both fans and players.
This year marks the second time the University of Phoenix Stadium will be at the center of all the Super Bowl action, having played host to Super Bowl XLII in 2008.

On TV, US fans will Super Bowl XLIX play out live nationwide beginning at 6 pm ET on NBC television, with kickoff time set for 6:30 pm ET. On the Pacific Coast, that's 3:30 pm; Mountain time 4:30 pm; and 5:30 pm Central.

Up north, CTV covers the game for Canada while fans of American football Down Under traditionally tune into live coverage in Australia on ESPN Australia and One HD.

Across the pond, (and five hours ahead of US East Coast time) the live game can be seen during the wee hours on BBC and Sky Sports in the UK.
Halftime Fun Fact: Performers aren't paid for their appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show. In fact, the 15 minutes of international fame is more than enough promo for major stars, who get to sell more recordings and concert tickets as a result of the worldwide exposure.
This year, recognizing the profits made by halftime appearances, the Super Bowl committee was angling to charge a "pay to play" fee to performers for a shot at the famous venue. Early rumors had Coldplay, Katy Perry and Rihanna all offered the gig, but in October it was pretty much confirmed: Katy Perry would roar into the Super Bowl halftime show.
That is, at least according to tabloid reports announcing that the California Gurl and the Super Bowl had hammered out a deal. This is despite the fact that Perry has in the past openly admitted, "I'm not the kind of girl would pay to play the Super Bowl".
Joining Perry on stage at halftime will be special guest, rocker Lenny Kravitz. Also watch for other star performances during Super Bowl 2015 include Broadway star Idina Menzel kicking off the proceedings with "The Star Spangled Banner" followed by John Legend singing "America The Beautiful."
Earlier in the day, kids of all ages can also tune into this year's other big Super Bowl Sunday entertainment when the 2015 Puppy Bowl airs on Animal Planet on the Discovery Channel at 3PM ET.
Super Bowl XLVIII Recap
With the stage set at halftime, pop star Bruno Mars rocked the house at MetLife Stadium with such recent hits as 'Locked Out of Heaven,'' ''Just the Way You Are'' and ''Grenade.'' Joining the popular Hawaiian pop star was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who helped make this Super Bowl halftime the most-watched ever with 115.3 million viewers, surpassing Madonna's 114 million in 2012.
As it happened, the halftime show was probably the most entertaining part of the game as the Seattle Seahawks scored in the first 12 seconds -- .and it was somehow clear from the get-go that for the Denver Broncos, the party was over before it had even begun.

Despite a valiant effort from the Bronco's quarterback Peyton Manning, it was his team's offense AND defense that ultimately brought them all down in a humiliating 43-8 defeat.
