Super Bowl 2015: Phoenix Super Bowl Boulevard

Phoenix to open streets to alcohol consumption

Phoenix appears to be going out of its way to one-up the Super Bowl party that New York City threw last season. According to the Arizona Republic, the city has approved plans for an "open campus" on which of-age adults can consume alcoholic beverages on public streets. The nine-block area was issued the largest special-even liquor license in the history of downtown Phoenix.
An estimated 1 million people will traverse Verizon Super Bowl Central, where there will be
concerts, games, attractions and nightly fireworks. The centerpiece will be a 100-foot rock-climbing wall called the Grand Canyon Experience -- naturally, what else would you want in the middle of the world's largest bar?
Last year, New York City created a colder, booze-less version of Phoenix's Super Bowl Central called Super Bowl Boulevard, which had a giant ice slide and gave fans a chance to glimpse the Lombardi Trophy if they could stomach a grossly long line.
There are no more specifics of what will take place at Super Bowl Central. Curious fans in the area can wander by beginning Wednesday.
